The Last War

When King Jarot, the last king of Galifar died, his five children refused to honor the ancient laws of succession and allow Mishann, the eldest, to ascend to the throne. Instead, each of them declared him or herself to be the true heir of Galifar and war erupted across the land.

The Last War raged for nearly 100 years, and only the destruction of Cyre on the Day of Mourning caused the warring nations to accept a truce. That truce, the Treaty of Thronehold, was signed in 996 YK (two years ago) and brought an end to the Last War.

The name “Last War” was given to the conflict by the people, who hoped that after it finally ended the taste for war would forever be wiped from the world.*
